Malaysian mobile operator Celcom Axiata has signed an agreement with fibre companies Jalur Lebar Nasional (Jalenas), My Penang Fon (PenangFON), and Fiber at Home City Networks (Fiber@Home) to offer home high-speed broadband (HSBB) services to customers in Kuantan, Penang, and Sungai Petani. With the partners, Celcom will roll out a range of home services this year, including voice over broadband, internet data, content services from The Cube, Wi-Fi services, and enterprise services. The operator has already launched Celcom First Voice, a range of voice plans. Since early this year, Celcom has conducted friendly user trials in Kuantan and Penang with Jalenas and PenangFON to fine-tune the service prior to the commercial launch. The commercial launch is expected to be in the fourth quarter of this year. A year ago, Celcom and Telekom Malaysia signed an MOU on HSBB services. Under the memorandum, TM would provide Celcom with DSL services for its customers, fibre services for the Celcom network, and HSBB services. Celcom, in turn, would provide Telekom Malaysia with MVNO services.
