TM announces HyppTV premium channel charges

KUALA LUMPUR, Monday 8 November 2010 (Bernama) -- Telekom Malaysia (TM) has announced the pricing for its premium channels and video-on-demand (VOD) content available via HyppTV, Malaysia's newest pay TV service.

Effective Nov 1, 2010, charges for the premium channels start at RM6 per channel per month, the company said in a statement today.

The VOD content starts from RM8 per title for all genres, including Hollywood, Malaysian, Asian and Bollywood.

Popular Hollywood TV series are charged RM48 per title (whole series) per season, viewable for an entire month by the subscriber.

The service is being enjoyed by more than 16,000 residential customers via the UniFi High-Speed Broadband (HSBB) service with the VIP5, VIP10 and VIP20 packages, TM said.

HyppTV's 14 basic channels continue to be provided free-of-charge for all UniFi consumer package subscribers, which include TV1, TV2, TV3, NTV7, 8TV, TV9, Bernama TV, Hikmah, Channel NewsAsia, Luxe.TV HD, Euronews, DW-TV Asia+, Australia Network and Travel Channel.

Also free are HyppTV's interactive channels comprising Flight Information, Games, Malaysian History, Malaysian Football, Waktu Solat and TED.com.

In October, TM added seven new channels to its HyppTV Premium line-up, which are Manchester United TV, Universal, SyFy, Warner TV, BabyFirst TV, Screen RED and iConcerts HD.

The pre-existing premium channels are BBC Knowledge, BBC Lifestyle, CBeebies, STAR Chinese Movies 2, STAR Chinese Channel, Channel [V] Taiwan, Fashion TV and Fashion TV HD.

Aside from TV channels, TM also offers video–on-demand (VOD) service that provides more than 1,000 hours of the latest blockbusters, Hollywood Premier Series and local movies and series.

HyppTV is available to all TM UniFi residential customers as part of the service's triple-play offering that comprises phone, high-speed Internet and IPTV services (linear TV channels and VoD content).

For its official launch in March, UniFi subscribers enjoyed 22 channels and 400 hours of VOD titles for free during the promotional period which ended on Oct 30.

TM UniFi is currently being offered with three residential packages, which are VIP5 at RM149 a month, VIP10 at RM199 a month and VIP20 at RM249 a month.

Currently, UniFi's service rollout has reached 26 exchange areas nationwide.
